Edinburgh is awesome!
I love Edinburgh! Today, slept in, had vanilla pancakes, and then set out. first, a tour of Edinburgh, and also checking out the fair grounds, with tons of booths selling absolutely everything. Then, lunch outside, looking over a beautiful field full of activity. Then... I climbed the 300 steps of the Scott monument, which was incredible. Then, I took a tour of Edinburgh castle with greg. Now, I'm at the hotel again, and I'm going swimming! Oh, and i also took more than 100 pictures today. no, im serious. like five rolls

Er, lad, dinna ye think that mayhaps be the "Scot" monument (one "t")? Dinna fash yourself, it's just your editor mom.
How's it going understanding the Scottish accent?
THANKS once more to Greg, who appears to have endless stamina for touring!
Can't wait to see the photos! You might have to get the film developed over here and add to the blog after you're home...
Have a good swim! Hi Lily! Do some writing here, Lily...we want to hear your perspective too...
Thanks, Wes, as ever, for these great updates. You seem a world away. Guess you are!
Love,
Mom
Film developed? HUNH?
OK so did Leenie get Greg lingerie for HIS birthday?
G
Yes, Wes is traveling with my old-fashioned camera, a perfectly lovely Canon 35mm. He took some photography workshops earlier this summer here on Cape Ann with a great local photographer/artist, Dana Salo. (They even did a little darkroom work, imagine!)
Tho' it is true doing photography this way is anachronistic. Try buying 35 mm film; it's not as easy to find or get developed as it once was!
In the end, perhaps more trouble and expense than digital...but, perhaps, more creative control? Thoughts, other photographers...??
PS
I thought Greg's b-day was tomorrow! Well, anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GREG!!!
Lots of love, the rest of the Dunns
PS - Wes has a gift for you in his luggage (unless he forgot it back in London) (hint: not lingerie).
No no Teri - MOTHER, it is Walter Scott monument! And he climbed all those spiral steps then dripped water from his water bottle down on the girls below...
Go Wes. No halo there!
Ah, the Ivanhoe guy...as Ed Abbey might say, "one of our finest lady novelists" (actually he said that about Henry James, I think).
Mother stands corrected.
you may be in for a surprise on the camera front- and not a bad one either..x
I actually think digital allows greater creative control and less time consuming (except that now people create a lot more photos, which are time consuming in their own ways). I have a lovely 35mm as well and it's collecting dust, as is Dave's.
I love not having to scan images in, then correct for the mess the scanner made of things. I love being able to monkey with the images to my heart's content, make collages, etc. Well, I did, then came Rowan and a 1000 pics a week.
I also think digital is better for the environment, in the long run. Film development, which I spent years doing, is extremely toxic re creating, using and disposing of the chemicals and papers.
What Souflee said.
Anyone want a Nikon N80?
I guess that makes me ( and my Olympus OM2 ) the odd man out ... give me film anytime, especially black & white
I want a Nikon N80!!!
good score, Wes!!!
